Active Deterrence technology combines powerful audio, visual, and intelligence features that come together to create proactive measures that turn away would-be criminals while also providing detection and recording functions.

“Active Deterrence” is not a single element in the design or firmware of a security camera, but rather a combination of features that work together to create a powerful force against threats. Active deterrence features include motion detection, hybrid illumination, a siren and/or recorded audio messages, and colored flashing lights. Add 24-hour color imaging, Smart Tracking and E-Tracking to that list, and you’ve got a virtual arsenal of protection.

How does it work?

LTS active deterrence video security cameras are designed to prevent incidents using varying combinations of these powerful features:

Motion Detection

Cameras equipped with MD 2.0 detect people and vehicles. They can then trigger alarms, notifications, video recording, and other operations.

Hybrid illumination

When no movement is detected, LTS Hybrid Illumination Cameras remain in the default IR-light-only mode for black & white recording. Upon detection of a person or vehicle, a spotlight illuminates the area & the camera records in color.

Two-way Audio Communication

Sirens and voice messages can be triggered using line-crossing & other VCA detections. Dual microphones transmit sound as well, extending possibilities for security personnel.

Spotlights & Flashing Lights

A bright white spotlight or flashing lights will send a clear warning at the first sign of a trespasser crossing into a restricted area.

Smart-tracking

Select PTZ cameras detect and then follow a moving person or vehicle, keeping the target in the field of view as long as possible.

Studies have shown that the presence of visible deterrence features – as simple as a sign stating there are video surveillance cameras in the area – can be effective against potential offenders. At least one recent study found that the presence of visible security cameras and warning signs reduced the likelihood of theft and vandalism in parking lots by creating just the perception of increased risk for offenders.
