Hybrid Illumination
Color Imaging in the Dark
Hybrid Illumination Cameras from LTS come equipped with both invisible Infrared lighting and visible supplemental lighting capabilities. Hybrid Illumination technology enables cameras to switch between these two types of lighting during the dark nighttime hours to provide color imaging around the clock. The switch can be made manually or automatically, with a few different options for mode selection. These options have been designed to meet any lighting requirement – from light-sensitive and eco-friendly applications to light-pollution restrictions – while still providing cutting-edge motion-triggered security. They can be implemented across a wide range of uses and settings.
How does it work?
- By default, and when no motion is detected, the camera uses IR light. The system records black & white imaging, using minimal bandwidth and data storage.
- When embedded MD 2.0 technology detects a person or a vehicle in the field of view, the camera automatically illuminates the area with visible white light to record in color. Thanks to advanced technology, this switch between IR and white light is instantaneous, ensuring consistently stable and sharp imaging.
- When the person or vehicle leaves the camera’s field of view, the camera returns to the default setting with IR light and B&W video recording.
Advantages
Three Lighting Modes
- IR-only lighting can help keep a camera hidden from view, when needed, and capture video 24/7. However, it can only render B&W imaging in low light and darkness.
- "Smart mode," or automated switching between the two types of lights, can be ideal for security monitoring purposes, keeping bandwidth and data usage low with the IR light on, and then providing accurate color video when needed with the visible (white) light. The drawback is the camera’s position cannot remain hidden when the visible light turns on.
- Supplemental visible lighting enables color imaging in low- and zero-light environments, 24/7. However, keeping a bright white spotlight on all night can be undesirable or even not allowed in certain areas, and the camera's location will be obvious.
Hybrid Illumination technology gives you control, so you can choose the mode that suits your applications best.
